I remember how my grandfather used to talk about Bab El-Azab area, located around the Salahuddin Al-Ayoubi Citadel, saying that it was one of the most mesmerizing areas in Cairo, if not Egypt. He used to spend most of his day there indulging all the beauty of the Egyptian heritage that the area had to offer.
According to a statement by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiques, the government has decided to bring back all the beauty that the area had to offer by renovating it in a step to try to nourish tourism to the area.
In case you have no idea about the place, Bab el-Azab is one of the doors of Salah el-Din Citadel, overlooking the Sultan Hassan School and the Al-Rifai Mosque. It is one of the largest and most beautiful Islamic structures in Cairo. The door is similar in composition to the doors of Bab el-Fotouh and Bab-Zuweila.
