As beautiful things usually are, they go unnoticed by most people. This is the case with many awe-inspiring short movies that, unfortunately, doesn’t get enough attention from people. So we’re offering you one of the most promising Egyptian short movies that you must definitely add to your to-watch list.
“This Is My Night” is a 2019 short movie starring the always-enchanting Nahed El-Sebai, Sherif Desouky –who we’ve already get to know and fall in love with this Ramadan doing Seba’e in “b 100 wesh”, and Amr Hossam. It’s is directed by Egyptian Director Yusuf Nouman, and is written by Ahmed Abdelwareth.
The movie follows the seemingly-simple journey of a poor woman that wants to get ice-cream for her son who has Down syndrome. Their adventure starts from a low-class area till they reach a what-can-be-called classy neighborhood. And in spite of how simple what they ask for is, they face some awful situations and troubles. The movie does offer an eye-opening experience on how society really deals with Down Syndrome children and the increasing gaps between different social classes.
What’s more compelling is that the movie won the gold award in the 15th International Oriental Film Festival of Geneva! And to make things even better –especially for mummies- the movie is suitable for both adults and children, as El-Seba’e herself stated in a radio interview. So make sure to save a day for this marvelous movie once it’s out.
Always facing the world with humor, books, and a good cup of coffee! Zahra is the girl who has a lot to say about everything and always needs to write something down.
