Winter has finally come … and it has come way stronger than we thought it would be! And for all you Winter fanatics out there, we know that you might be rejoicing but others, like myself, we sure do hate it! and believe us when we say that we do have our VALID reasons and among them is the fact that we feel fatigued all the time!

So, after extensive research on “How to be active during the winter season,” I came across the ultimate solution … SUPERFOODS!

You might think that they’re not all that, but I’ve been trying it out for quite some time now, by adding at least one of them in every meal, and trust me when I say that they’re a miracle worker! So, without further ado, here’s the list!

Dark Leafy Greens

Dark green leafy vegetables (DGLVs) are an excellent source of nutrients including folate, zinc, calcium, iron, magnesium, vitamin C, and fiber. It goes without saying that almost everything that is green and edible is good for you, so always make sure that you include them in your daily diet; they’ll not only boost your energy but also they’ll keep you warm during this cold, cold weather!


Berries are a nutritional powerhouse of vitamins, minerals, fiber, and antioxidants. The strong antioxidant capacity of berries is associated with a reduced risk of heart disease, cancer, and other inflammatory conditions. Just always make sure that you don’t spill its juice on your white Gucci shirt, they’re impossible to remove!

Green Tea

Perhaps the worst part of my day. I can confidently say that Green Tea is the third worst thing to drink after sewage water and Liquorice. But the reason why I’m insisting that it should be added to this listicle is the fact that I know a friend who lost around 25 KG by reducing his food portions and drinking tons of green tea. He was full of life and he looks extremely healthy now!


I know you probably knew that one but let me add something, that the beauty of eggs is that you can cook them in different ways that would make you feel like you’re eating something out of McDonald’s. Just make sure you Google “different ways to cook boiled eggs” and you’d be surprised.


Legumes, or pulses, are a class of plant foods made up of beans (including soy), lentils, peas, peanuts, and alfalfa. They earn the superfood label because they’re loaded with nutrients and play a role in preventing and managing various diseases. Make sure that you’re not allergic to any of them before indulging!

Nuts and Seeds

Also known as Brain Foods, nuts and seeds are the way to go if you’re looking to not be “fatigued” in the head! They also pack various plant compounds with anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, which can protect against oxidative stress. Almonds are the best when it comes to this type of superfoods, so always make sure that you have them in your household by the plenty!

Kefir and Yogurt 

So just in case you don’t know what Kefir is, it is a fermented beverage usually made from milk that contains protein, calcium, B vitamins, potassium, and probiotics. Kefir is similar to yogurt but has a thinner consistency and typically more probiotic strains than yogurt. If you’re lactose intolerant, don’t fret you can invest in all the other superfoods on this list!


STINKY BREATH ALERT! Garlic is a plant food that is closely related to onions, leeks, and shallots. It’s a good source of manganese, vitamin C, vitamin B6, selenium, and fiber. Garlic is a popular culinary ingredient due to its distinct flavor, but it has also been used for its medicinal benefits for centuries. We just felt the need to say what we mentioned above but we know that you already knew that … If you’re Italian or Egyptian that is! Just make sure you use a hell lot of Listerine afterword!

Olive Oil

My personal favorite because it simply makes everything taste better! Have you tried it with Labneh? You’ll thank me later! Remember how Samuel L. Jackson said that Burgers are “the cornerstone of any nutritious breakfast” in Pulp Fiction? Well, he certainly did get it wrong! Just be healthier than Samuel and make sure that you ingest Olive Oil in your diet. You can be healthier than him because you cannot be cooler!
