It has been quite some time since we last heard about the Egyptian government doing something about the rate of unemployment in the country. But you’d know, without anyone saying it, that all the massive projects that the country is working on would, by default, provide a huge number of vacancies to people of all fields.
Today, however, the Egyptian government has just announced that they will be providing a total of 950K jobs in an attempt to reduce the unemployment rate to 7.3%, which is around 2.2 million citizens.
Here is the description of the jobs offered:
– 950,000 job opportunities increasing the employed to 28 million
– Stabilizing the number of the unemployed at 2.2 million
– Increasing female workers from 16 percent to 22 percent of the total workforce
– Reducing unemployment amongst holders of university degrees in the total workforce from 46 percent to 38 percent
