Majid Al Futtaim, the leading shopping mall, communities, retail, and leisure pioneer across the Middle East, Africa, and Asia, hosts Diarna’s 70th exhibition under the auspices of Egypt’s First Lady HE Entissar Elsisi and the Ministry of Social Solidarity at Mall of Egypt. The exhibition opened its doors to the public on September 21, running for 10 days, and aiming to provide exhibitors with the opportunity to showcase their handmade products.

During the opening ceremony, the Egyptian Minister of Social Solidarity Nivine El-Kabbag inaugurated the exhibition in the presence of Libyan Minister of Social Affairs, Dr. Wafaa El Kilany, Libyan Minister of Economic Affairs, Dr. Osama Al Ghowail, and the Governor of Giza, Major General Ahmed Rashid among members of Majid Al Futtaim’s leadership team in Egypt, to announce the partnership between Diarna and the mall.

Rasha Azab, Acting Managing Director of West Region Shopping Malls at Majid Al Futtaim – Properties stated: “Majid Al Futtaim is a firm believer in the importance of supporting handcrafts, which is why we are proud to be partnering with the Diarna exhibition. Through hosting this at our flagship property in the country, Mall of Egypt, we are able to provide handcraft exhibitors with a platform to showcase their products to the community, proudly highlighting the beauty of Egyptian and Libyan heritage.”

The exhibition hosts over 380 exhibitors who represent 13 governorates, and who will be displaying products that range from handcrafted carpets, ceramics, pottery, textiles, crochet, traditional clothing, and accessories. A section of the exhibition is dedicated to Libyan artists, who will also be showcasing their traditional heritage.

Adel Al Baksawy, Director of the Exhibition at the Ministry of Social Solidarity, added: “We are honored to be hosting this event in cooperation with the Egyptian government and in partnership with Mall of Egypt. This helps us continue to promote handmade products, showcasing our commitment to supporting talent – and through that, benefiting the local economy and community.”

Diarna first launched its exhibition in 1964 under the auspices of the Ministry of Social Solidarity.
